Dr. Michael Shontz has been serving the chiropractic healthcare needs in the community since 1992. His practice encompasses a wide range of patients and conditions, including sports injuries, auto injuries, neck and back pain, pinched nerves, headaches as well as preventative and wellness care.
Dr. Shontz is a firm believer in the body’s innate ability to heal itself given proper treatment and lifestyle. Reducing pain is his primary focus, along with identifying and addressing the root cause. Dr. Shontz uses hands-on spinal manipulations and soft tissue therapies to promote optimal body function and reduce pain. In addition, he is passionate about treating the whole person, taking ample time with each patient to understand their health concerns and goals and provide specific exercise and nutrition recommendations designed to help them achieve a pain-free and happy life.
As a pre-med major at Florida State University, Dr. Shontz was always interested in health science and discovered that chiropractic care was the perfect match for his conservative, holistic healthcare approach. He graduated summa cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic, the birthplace of chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa. Since then, Dr. Shontz has continued to grow in his profession, taking post-graduate classes in orthopedics.
Dr. Shontz has always been an avid sports fan, both watching and playing. He played football, lacrosse, and baseball, to name a few, and currently enjoys tennis, golf and working out. He is married to his college sweetheart and has three grown children, two of whom are pursuing careers in healthcare.
